Singaporean singer-songwriter Iman Fandi today announced a joint project with visual artist Kristal Melson, Universal Music Singapore and Curio, the premier Non-Fungible Token (NFT) platform for entertainment brands and musical artists to launch two music NFTs, titled ‘In Repose’ and ‘Florescence’. These works, released in commemoration of World Self Care Day, are the first two of three NFTs in a collection that will unfold this year as a collaborative series.

Iman makes her first foray into the NFT space by bringing new meaning to her music. For ‘In Repose’, it comprises an audio loop of her debut single ‘Timeframe’, while ‘Florescence’ draws from her single ‘Love Me Little More’. Both works are set to unique animated artworks by illustrator and visual artist Kristal Melson, whose previous projects include Love Bonito’s “Tiger Bloom” NFT and the artwork for the first Apple Store opening in Singapore.
At age 22, Iman has made a name for herself in Singaporean music, taking big leaps and confident strides in her art. By expressing her stories through a next-generation visual art medium, especially with resonant tales of vulnerability and self-love, Iman intends to establish her music as one that’s multi-disciplinary. “There are many ways to express emotions, feelings, or stories, and it’s amazing to be able to tell a story in just seconds through this digital medium,” she says. “A significant part of my goal is to raise the conversation of well-being and finding oneself through the message behind this artwork. I also hope this is something that people can keep as a little gift in support of my songs.”
On the back of the recently announced global partnership between Curio and Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music-based entertainment, Universal Music Singapore will be able to leverage Curio’s technology, exclusive partnerships and innovative fan engagement networks, to create and launch NFT projects from an unrivalled roster of artists and labels, providing greater scalability and flexibility to issue authentic fan-orientated collectables, carefully curated for each project.
Iman herself has also partnered up with Impart to produce content on their mental health care social channels to spark conversations surrounding self-care and the importance of nurturing mental health.
Kristal naturally gravitated towards Iman’s mission to connect with listeners with purpose, texture, and heart. “I would think that my work expresses genuine thoughts,” she says. “In that personal exploration, I hope we all find some connection in our experiences from looking at the work.” Iman instantly found that their values aligned, and gained a new appreciation for her work in the process. “When we jumped on a call together to speak about the NFTs, we immediately bounced ideas off one another and we both agreed on the direction of the project pretty quickly!” she adds.
Through the NFT launch on World Self Care Day, Iman Fandi hopes her journey of self-exploration, care and mental health advocacy can find its voice through a new visual art form. To amplify her message, Iman has partnered up with the charity Impart, whose mental health care arm increases mental health awareness and care among youths in Singapore through advocacy and community interventions. With the NFT launch on a day held most dearly by Impart, Iman aims to make a difference in the real world and the metaverse.
Coinciding with this partnership is a special opportunity for fans. Iman will offer 1 rare edition of the ‘Florescence’ NFT (limited to 5) – owners of this special NFT will get the chance to explore self-care in Iman’s world with an IRL experience with the singer herself at The Art Nooq, a private art jamming studio in Singapore. The rare and normal editions of the NFTs will also come with a lifetime 10% discount code for purchases on the Universal Music Singapore merch store.
“At Curio, we’re fans first, and we’re excited to be working with Iman to develop an NFT project that authentically engages and speaks to her fanbase,” said Ben Arnon, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Curio. “We cannot wait to see what’s in store as we continue to work across Universal Music Group’s record labels, operating companies and artists worldwide in the months to come.”
