Chempaka Logistik Sdn Bhd (Chempaka Logistik), the owner and operator of Paragon Market Place, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Persatuan Pendidikan Kesenian Negeri Johor (SatuSeni), a non-profit organisation established under the Registry of Societies (ROS), by opening the SatuSeni Hub as a craft, culture, Batik, and Arts gallery and centre at Paragon Market Place.
The signing ceremony was held at Paragon Market Place on the 4 of June 2022. Signing on behalf of Chempaka Logistik was its Director Dato’ Sri Godwin Tan Pei Poh, who is also the Executive Director of Joland Group, while SatuSeni was represented by Nurrul Ain Shaid Ahmad, its President.
Also present to witness the signings were Chempaka Logistik Director and Joland Group Managing Director Dato’ Sri Edwin Tan Pei Seng and Siti Nurhazwani binti Mohd Zaini, Assistant Secretary of SatuSeni.
This MoU outline the collaboration between Chempaka Logistik and SatuSeni to maximise the benefits and record the mutual interests and understanding to discuss, negotiate and formalize the scope and terms of their cooperation in promoting art and craft at Paragon Market Place.
At the signing, Chempaka Logistik Director and Executive Director of Joland Group, Dato’ Sri Godwin Tan Pei Poh said: “This collaboration marks a significant step forward in Paragon Market Place’s sustainability journey. We aim to establish a sustainable art space to promote and preserve the local arts, crafts, and culture and nurture the local talents through this SatuSeni Hub.”
SatuSeni President Nurrul Ain Shaid Ahmad said, “SatuSeni will continue our efforts to search for talented Johor youngsters and ready to share our skills with the community. Hopefully, this collaboration and the existence of the SatuSeni hub can assist Malaysia’s creative industries in expanding their businesses and gaining opportunities, especially for Johoreans looking for a platform to share their talents, skills and experiences that they have regardless of race and religion continuously and in stages.”
SatuSeni Hub incorporates various industry NGOs from arts, crafts and culture that can increase the generation of the industrial economy of arts, crafts and culture through the restructuring of industrial economic development to more sustainable.
Its main purposes are to assist entrepreneurs in the arts, handicrafts and culture industries in structuring more sustainable income generation for the long term. It aims to be the one-stop centre for the development of the arts, handicrafts and multicultural industry in Johor and educate Johor youths to get involved in this field as a guarantee that this industry continues to be inherited and will not disappear in the future.
Meanwhile, Paragon Market Place, also held a ceremony to celebrate its 2nd Anniversary the following day with a series of events, namely the Mini Johor Arts Fiesta, organised by SatuSeni.
The Mini Johor Arts Fiesta in conjunction with the 2nd Anniversary of Paragon Market Place’s ceremony was officiated by Tuan Mohd Hairi bin Mad Shah, Johor’s State Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives and Human Resource Committee chairman, with the presence Dato’ Sri Godwin Tan Pei Poh.
Also attending the ceremony were Dato’ Sri Edwin Tan Pei Seng, Puan Hajah Salmah binti Sainal, Naib Pengerusi Majlis Kebudayaan Negeri Johor, Azhar bin Mohtar, Assistant Director of Student Talent Development Unit, Student Development Sector, Johor State Education Department and Nurrul Ain Shaid Ahmad, President of SatuSeni.
