Four Points by Sheraton Desaru has recently treated 28 physically challenged trainees and senior citizens from Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PKPDK) Mas Timur to a buka puasa (break fast) with Selera Warisan buffet dinner at The Mesh Restaurant.
The special guests indulged in a selection of over 100 traditional and international dishes including a live Arabic Station, hot Tandoori Station, Smokehouse Charcoal & Grill selection, Seafood on lce, Local Salad Bar, Traditional Sweets and biscuits and more.
“Tonight is a special night for us at Four Points by Sheraton Desaru as we embarked on a four months journey after our grand launch last year and here we are, hosting our inaugural Ramadan CSR initiative as part of Marriott International’s Serve 360 programme. I thank everyone here tonight for your continuous support and look forward to many more initiatives such as this,” said Maverick Loh, General Manager of Four Points by Sheraton Desaru during his speech.
He also hopes that more such events would continue to motivate young people to support those in need. The hotel’s management team provided transportation to the organisation, deploying a shuttle bus to the centre in Taman Felda Papan Timur and brought all trainees aged 15 to 57 to the hotel. The management staff greeted them in the lobby with open hearts and arms and took them to The Mesh Restaurant.
The breaking of fast started off with the reciting of prayer by a representative from PKPDK Mas Timur. All the hotel management team gathered to mingle and assisted the trainees throughout the buka puasa evening. Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PKPDK) Mas Timur was founded in 1993 by the Felda Papan Timur Manage, Haji Shahlan Timan with the help of all surrounding Felda settlers.
Initially, it was located at the GPW Felda Papan Timur building, with just 24 trainees aged 6 to 26 enrolled in Kelas Anak-Anak Istimewa PDK Mas Timur every Saturday and Sunday. With an enrollment of 80 trainees, the organisation obtained its own building in 1998 and expanded to Felda Air Tawar 1 and Bandar Penawar.
The night ended with Maverick Loh handing over the duit raya to each trainee and they were sent back home in Taman Felda Papan Timur via the hotel’s shuttle bus.
