Johor Police Chief: If Anyone Tries to Stop You from Voting this Saturday, Lodge a Report

The police also encourage the public to inform of any challenges such as floods that would stop them from going out to cast their votes

Johoreans have been asked to report to the police if any party tries to prevent people from voting in the Johor state election this Saturday the 12th of March 2022.

Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, the Chief of Police in Johor, said that regular checks would be conducted to monitor voter turnout at polling locations.

“…We will monitor the voting process to ensure it runs smoothly. If there are low voters turnout, we will find out why, whether there is any obstacle faced by the voters,” he told at a press conference after observing the early voting process for the Johor state election at Dewan Dato’ Onn, the Johor contingent police headquarters, on the early voting day.

Kamarul Zaman also requested the public to notify the police if they encountered any problems such as flash floods, that might prevent them from voting.

Meanwhile, he stated that 11,500 members and police officers, as well as their spouses, were eligible for early voting at 83 polling stations on that day, with 1,500 of them voting at Dewan Dato’ Onn.

Kamarul Zaman said the early voting process was going well so far despite rain in the morning.
