In its ongoing effort to enhance Johor’s extremely rich history, culture and heritage, 2019-born State of The Art Gallery (SOTAG) has launched a month-long art exhibition on 2nd February in KOMTAR, JBCC showcasing Johor artists’ curated arts.
Aspiring to encourage, appreciate, create awareness and build excitement for arts in Johor regardless of its medium from fine art, sculpture, mural, dance, to the theatre, photography, music and etc.
The activities on the launch day included CNY Traditional Dance & Modern Dance, Chinese Percussion Performance and mini workshops with vendors. All of these programmes would run daily from 10 am to 10 pm daily until the 2nd of March 2022.
Among the artists that attended the launch is 7-year-old Nattania Rao, who loves all forms of arts and crafts and she has currently, found her love for acrylic painting on canvas.
Meanwhile, Raymond Koh who was an interior designer and later changed his direction to devote his time to doing social work is now a full-time, self-taught artist and pyrographer with 30 years of experience.
Art By Lava, a self-taught artist based in Johor who left the corporate world to pursue her passion for art and has since painted for the Sultan of Johor, paints custom artworks and portraits as well as hosts art & craft workshops and events.
The featured artists also include photographer turned fine artist Avandartz, Syed Tajhudeen’s student, Mohamed Shamim and 3D modeller, Jennifer all of whom found arts by starting out as self-taught.
Joining the exhibition are vendors like Lathalia Jewelry, ANURA Naturals, DREAMERZDESIGN, Attune Art Studio and Art & Sip.
