EduCity Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd (EduCity) and Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju) has agreed to develop innovative upskilling programmes targetting Bumiputera youth and unemployed graduates.
The document exchange event took place at the EduCity Sports Complex on the 3rd of December between Kolonel Bersekutu (PA) Ts. Mohd Muzzammil Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Peneraju and Wan Ahmad Saifuddin Wan Ahmad Radzi, Managing Director of EduCity, and witnessed by Muhammad Ayinan Annuar, Associate Director of Strategic Engagement, Yayasan Peneraju and Prof. Dr Sakina Sofia Baharom, Director of Operations, EduCity.
This collaboration is essential as part of EduCity and Yayasan Peneraju’s initiatives to support the national agenda in increasing the number of highly skilled young Bumiputera talents, especially in the gig economy, which will continue to grow the economic benefits of productivity and employment opportunities.
“Yayasan Peneraju works closely with industry players, programme partners, training providers and other stakeholders to ensure that the programmes offered are of high quality, relevant and to increase the marketability of our beneficiaries. Over 9 years of being established, we have developed over 40,000 young human capital in various fields through over 350 funding programmes,” said Muzzammil.
He further added, “We foresee that this collaboration will support us in achieving our primary goal in increasing the quality, quantity, and relevance of Bumiputera talents through our academic, skills, professional, technology and special funding programmes. This is in line with the government’s efforts to drive Malaysia towards a high-income nation.”
Several discussions and workshops were held in December 2021 between the two organisations that will focus on upskilling through place and train programmes to ensure the participants will be employed at the end of the training programmes.
The first focus will be a joint effort to develop a new apprenticeship training programme based on the fundamentals of EduCity’s PERANTIS Iskandar that was designed based on the German’s apprenticeship model.
The second in the pipeline is a joint effort to further enhance Yayasan Peneraju’s training programmes, namely the Peneraju Skil and Peneraju Teknologi. The project aims to provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead in order to sustain business in a highly competitive and ever-changing global economic landscape.
Wan Ahmad Saifuddin Wan Ahmad Radzi, Managing Director of EduCity, shared his appreciation for the collaboration during the event. “We are honoured to be able to work together to expand our apprenticeship model nationwide and maximise the outreach of Yayasan Peneraju in the southern region. EduCity is also committed to providing support to enhance further their two training programmes that are highly relevant and in-demand due to the pandemic, Peneraju Skil and Peneraju Teknologi. These efforts will be developed and launched by Q1 of 2022, and we hope many more projects will be materialised between the two organisations that will benefit the youth and unemployed graduates.
