Humanity was tested greatly recently with the continuous waves of pandemic and natural disasters that hit the nation. People of the nation have since then reached out to the affected and that includes the many non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that have coordinated their helping hands so no one is left behind. Care United Johor Bahru (CUJB) who has also actively fend the affected families that are crying for help, held a Cooperation & Appreciation Day 2021 to show their gratitude for corporate and individual donors and fellow NGOs that have worked together for their charity aid throughout the year.
Also attending the event was Johor Bahru City Council Society Development Department’s Senior Assistant in place of Johor Bahru’s mayor, Khairulnizam Ismail and Kg Melayu Majidee/Taman Suria/Kg Kurnia Zone’s Council Member, Sa’adiah Hussin.
“The event was specially organised to appreciate the services of donors who have helped Care United Society Johor Bahru raise funds in the form of cash and food supplies amounting to RM3 million and charities who worked hand in hand with us to distribute food aid to 5,000 individuals and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Johor, especially in Johor Bahru, Kulai, Pasir Gudang, Kota Tinggi, Batu Pahat, Muar, Mersing, Pulau Sibu, Pontian, Pengerang, Kluang, Pagoh, Jasin, Segamat, Ujong Pasir and Bandar Hilir in Melak and Subang in Selangor,” said Datuk Florence Goh in her speech.
Popular for its food aid for over 16 years, CUJB handed over the final food aid for 2021 at the same event to rightful recipients with SOPs in place at the Dewan Kampung Melayu Majidee from 12 pm to 4 pm.
510 recipients from different organisations will benefit from the food aid. Each food pack costs RM80 per family and for schools, 2 packs of Promix Milk for each student are valued at RM70.
“Thanks to CUJB for looking after the needy in the area of my jurisdiction and I am looking forward to extending this aid cooperation in 2022 such as the Back To School programme,” Saadiah said in her speech, who has allowed CUJB to use the hall with no additional charge.
Khairulnizam on behalf of MBJB said his department is open to cooperating with any NGOs to help extend aid citing their availability of logistics and manpower.
Organisations known as ‘Synergy Partners’ made up of Yayasan Kebajikan Suria Johor Bahru, Ihsan Johor, House of Hope Kota Tinggi, Badan Kebajikan Islam Kg Melayu Majidee Johor Bahru, Persatuan Kebajikan Masyarakat India Johor Bahru, Kampung Skudai Kiri/PPR Melana Jaya, Beisan United Melaka and Kampung Onn Jaafar/Larkin Area/UDA are among the audience. Recipients of the food aid on the day includes schools like SRJK(C) Kuo Kang 1, SRJK (T) Ladang Tebrau, SRJK(T) Ladang Ulu Tiram and SRJK(T) Ladang Sungai Papan.
