In a bid to vaccinate all eligible recipients under the National Immunisation Plan, it is good news that many are eager to receive their booster vaccine (3rd dose) against the coronavirus.

To date, over 1 million people have received their booster shot in the country. However, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said more should be done despite the encouraging numbers for the booster shots.

“As the number of reported cases rises, we must do much more to safeguard the most vulnerable. When you receive an appointment for your booster, go for it,” advised Khairy earlier today in a tweet.

Pregnant women, adults aged 18 and up with comorbidities, persons aged 40 and up, and non-health frontliners will all receive booster injections in the near future.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health will make a decision later today on whether to allow those eligible for the booster dose to walk in for their shot. According to Khairy, a decision will be made because 40% of those eligible for booster shots failed to turn up for their appointment.

Malaysia has been administering Pfizer vaccines as a booster dose since October 2021.
