Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia last year, McDonald’s Malaysia has launched a number of ongoing measures to support the Ministry of Health (MOH) in managing the pandemic and ensuring Malaysia’s recovery. This is also part of the company’s attempt to spread positivity and commitment to feed and build communities as responsible corporate citizens, in line with their Komuniti @ McDonald’s & RMHC’s objective.

Since mid-September 2021, the company has distributed 10,000 complimentary meals via vouchers to frontline staff at hospitals that serve COVID-19 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Critical Care Unit (CCU). The coupons would allow frontline workers to enjoy a lunch at McDonald’s in their spare time as a thank you for their efforts in caring for patients during this trying period.

“Being there for all Malaysians is a purpose that is close to our heart, and it is our commitment to show up for our communities when they need it the most. We want to bring this message of strength and resilience to all as we strive to return to normalcy and recover from the pandemic. Our meal sponsorships and vouchers giveaway help to bring cheer and convey McDonald’s appreciation towards the important work done by the MOH,” said Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia.

Each frontliner would receive a Nasi Lemak McD with 1 pc Ayam Goreng McD and an Iced Lemon Tea, which may be redeemed with any purchase until 31st December 2021. Meanwhile, McDonald’s Malaysia has been providing three million Americano coffees to individuals who have received vaccines as part of this programme.

Since mid-September 2021, the vouchers have been delivered to those who have received their vaccine at 75 designated vaccination centres across the country. The vouchers are valid until 31st December 2021 and can be used on any purchase.

This is in addition to McDonald’s Malaysia’s commitment since the outbreak of the pandemic to provide weekly meal sponsorships for hospitals and PPVs, supplying more than one million meals to frontline personnel to date, and donating RM250,000 in PPE in 2020.

“We truly applaud and are proud of our medical frontliners who risk their lives every day, who care for patients and keep Malaysians safe. We want to show our gratitude and take care of them in return,” added Azmir.

As part of its Komuniti @ McDonald’s & RHMC programme goals, McDonald’s Malaysia will continue to support and help the MOH through various activities. McDonald’s places a high premium on the community’s wellbeing and the company will continue to do its share to ensure Malaysians and frontline workers are looked after and cared for during this difficult time.
