According to Menteri Besar Johor Datuk Ir. Haji Hasni Mohammad, the 1,000-square-foot single-storey terrace house costs RM16.3 million and was built on 6.66 acres of land.

“I would like to congratulate all 46 recipients of the Kampung Pendas Baru phase two housing project which is beautifully built and surrounded by mangrove swamps. Take care of this new village as best you can and preserve the nature that surrounds this area so that it becomes unique in the city of Johor Bahru,” he said during the key handover session for the Kampung Pendas Baru Housing Project phase two, here on the 19th of September 2021.

This housing project is equipped with various facilities such as a multipurpose hall, surau and a playground.

“I have discussed with the Mayor of Iskandar Puteri City Council so that a public market can be built here to provide convenience to the residents who mostly work as fishermen and sell fish,” said Hasni.

One of the recipients, Abdul Rahim Jamani, 64, said he had applied to own land on the site of an old house but was unsuccessful and he was disappointed because he had lived there for more than 30 years. “However, I am grateful to be given the opportunity to own a house in this new housing project which is beautifully built, organised and satisfying.

“The efforts made by the state government show their concern for the people’s grievances and problems,” he said.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani, Johor Bahru District Officer Datuk Abdul Rahman Salleh, Iskandar Puteri City Council Mayor Datuk Mohd Haffiz Ahmad and IIB President/Chief Executive Officer Datuk Khairil Anwar Ahmad.
