During challenging times like this the society looks forward to aid and assistance in any form and the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Tebrau fits this description to a tee with their timely help.
For 3 consecutive years, JCI Tebrau has rendered its help financially to the students of SJK (C) Tiram who are under financial difficulties. This donation event was made possible by JCI Tebrau Vice President Community, Elynne Lai who was accompanied by EVP Lim Hong Jie, member Emi Chew and Jetson Tan who handed over an RM2000 cheque to SJK (C) Tiram’s representatives.
Elynne Lai believes that charity events such as this should not be neglected especially under this pandemic circumstance. “We lead with action and would like to encourage the young citizens to contribute back to the society albeit safely. Follow JCI’s slogan of being an “Active Citizen,” said Elynne.
Meanwhile, JCI Tebrau has also donated RM500 cash each totalling RM2500 to 5 different families of different ethnicity in Pasir Gudang area to those who lost their employment and businesses that suffered financial difficulty due to the Movement Control Order. JCI Members Yong Li Ming, Jetson Tan and Lim Sin Fan handed over the sum to the 5 affected families.
According to Yong Li Ming, “The COVID-19 pandemic has crucially affected our lives and many lost their jobs, and businesses were affected due to the MCO. Some children are affected education-wise having to adapt to e-learning which is not that easy for them. Therefore, we at JCI Tebrau felt it was important to lend some assistance to them.”
