Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Ir. Haji Hasni Mohammad visited and oversaw the final preparations for the South Key Midvalley mega integration Vaccination Centre (PPV) opening on 18th July.
PPV South Key Midvalley is the first mega PPV operating in a shopping mall in the state and will begin its operation from 19th July, 8 am to 9 pm. Managed jointly by the government and the private sector through the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and Johor Medical Group (KPJ) Healthcare Berhad, the venue is capable of providing 5,000 doses of vaccine per day.
Hasni acknowledged that the opening of the mega PPV is important to help Johor achieve the target of 80% of the people who registered to receive vaccinations.
“We in Johor are ready with a vaccination capacity of between 50,000 to 60,000 doses a day.
He addressed the importance of having a mega PPV for the state to vaccinate 80% of the state’s 2.5 million people and achieve herd immunity by October.
He also thanked all parties who helped manage the PPV.
“I think the whole country is proud of the sacrifice of time and energy of volunteers from various parties to help the state and our country to make this vaccination programme a success,” he said.
A total of 283 medical and support staff from seven KPJ specialist hospitals, namely KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital, KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital, KPJ Pasir Gudang Specialist Hospital, KPJ Bandar Dato’ Onn Specialist Hospital, KPJ Kluang Specialist Hospital, KPJ Batu Pahat Specialist Hospital and Specialist Hospital KPJ Bandar Maharani implements the vaccination process at the PPV together with the volunteers from Malaysia Vaccine Support Volunteers, (MyVac).
Also present was the Director of the Johor State Health Department, Dato’ Dr Aman Rabu; Johor Bahru District Officer, Dato’ Haji Abdul Rahman Salleh and Johor Bahru Mayor, Dato’ Haji Adib Azhari Daud.
