Johor is expected to enter the second phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) by next week, based on its number of efforts, including extra vaccines, according to Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Ir. Haji Hasni Mohammad.
The state of Johor is able to achieve the criteria set by the National Security Council (NSC) in order to progress to the next level of the NRP.
“InsyaAllah (God willing), by next week, Johor will be in the second phase of the NRP,” Hasni said after handing over ventilator machines at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA).
Hasni previously stated that an extra 300,000 vaccination doses will be delivered to Johor this month. He said the state government has been given an assurance of this from the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry.
This will bring the total vaccines received by the state to 1.24 million doses. With the additional vaccines, Johor is able to provide 50,000 vaccine shots a day in all of the vaccination centres (PPV) statewide.
Hasni added that with the additional vaccines, the state government can start allocating vaccines towards its state initiative, Johor ImmuPlan.
“Around 110,000 people have been registered and screened under the Johor ImmuPlan. The data will be used by the state government to interface with the MySejahtera platform in order to eliminate any redundant names.
“This will help the state government meet its goal of vaccinating 80% of the total population by October this year,” Hasni said while adding that 10% of the state’s population has already been vaccinated.
Hasni said he will head a special working committee to look into the concerns faced by several industries in Johor regarding the execution of the standard operating procedure (SOP) under the movement control order (MCO).
He stated that the committee will investigate the SOPs and will focus on the issue of enforcement, which the industries believe is inconsistent.
Following the decision to allow states to move into the next phase of the NSC once they have achieved the necessary threshold indicators for each of the phases, the NSC allows states some leeway in opening up their economic sectors.
The number of daily COVID-19 cases, the number of persons who have been properly vaccinated, and the status of the healthcare system all factor into this.
Perlis, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Penang are among the states that have entered the second phase this week.
