PEMULIH Stimulus Package : Check Which Aid Would You Be Eligible For

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced the stimulus package called National People’s Well-Being and Economic Recovery Package (PEMULIH) on 28th June corresponding to the National Recovery Plan to exit Movement Control Order (MCO) amounting to RM380 Billion and expected to help 20 million individuals. 

Check if you are eligible for any of the aids listed below:

• The government unveiled a RM150 billion PEMULIH stimulus programme, as well as a RM10 billion fiscal infusion.
• The government would provide B40 households RM500 in August and RM300 in December. In August, B40 singles would receive RM200.
• M40 households will receive RM250 in August, while M40 singles would receive RM100.
• Based on EPF and SOCSO statistics, the government would provide RM500 to persons who have lost their jobs.
• The government has allocated RM300,000 to MPs for food basket assistance in their individual areas to aid affected groups.
• The government has set out RM10 million for a food basket initiative for indigenous peoples.
• Electricity bill discounts for affected economic sectors are being extended for additional three months – 10% off electricity rates from October to December.
• An electricity bill discount of 5-40% for household users based on power usage of up to 900kwh per month, worth RM346 million, would be offered for three months.
• Local banks have been allocated RM18 million to provide 30 mobile banks around the country.
• Micro SMEs will receive an additional RM500 in September and another RM500 in November.
• The government would lift the RM4,000 cap for the wage subsidy scheme, providing a salary subsidy of RM600 per worker for four months.
• An additional RM100 million is available through the SME Digitalisation Grant for SMEs and micro-SMEs to receive matching grants of up to RM5,000 for the purchase or subscription of digital systems.
• Sports facility operators would receive a one-time RM3,000 grant.
• The government would allocate RM100 million to help persons in the creative arts sector.
• For the disabled, financial aid of RM500 per month for three months is available.
• 4,400 nursery operators would receive RM3,000 in special assistance.
• Government procurement procedures will be simplified, and price variations will be permitted for projects impacted by increasing building material costs.
• The government guarantee scheme ceiling of Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan Bhd (SJPP) would be extended by RM20 billion.
• The government will enable a monthly withdrawal of RM1,000 under EPF’s i-Citra for a period of five months.
• For PTPTN borrowers, a three-month moratorium is planned.
• Affected insurance and takaful policyholders can opt-in for payment postponement until December 2021.
• Deferral of repayment of JPA federal student loans for six months; equivalent postponement of compensation claims for federal scholarship holders.
• Individual borrowers and microentrepreneurs will face a six-month moratorium, with no documentation required because all applications would be automatically accepted.
• The government will spend RM400 million to expand national vaccination supplies to cover 130 percent of the population, up from the previous aim of 120 percent.
• The government would spend RM200 million on 29 new vaccination centres, as well as upgrading existing ones, as well as introducing drive-through vaccination centres, mobile vaccination centres, and funding outreach home-to-home immunisation programmes.
• A RM150 million budget will be set aside for a public-private partnership immunisation programme (PIKAS).
• Starting in June 2021, the allowance for volunteer frontliners will be enhanced to RM100 per day from RM50 per day for those on duty for more than 12 hours per day.
• The government has decided to postpone monthly income tax instalment payments for businesses and to waive tourist and service taxes for hotel operators until the end of the year.
• More than 5,300 registered travel agencies would receive RM3,000 in ‘one-time’ aid to help them revitalise their companies when the country enters the Third Phase of PPN.
• The offer of one gigabyte of free daily data has been extended till December 31st, with an estimated value of RM500 million, benefiting 44 million consumers.
• The government has announced an RM4.6 billion allocation for Covid-19 Special Aid (BKC).
• To prevent price increases in 1kg-5kg bottled cooking oil, the government applies a price restriction based on crude palm oil threshold value.
• The government has maintained the retail price of RON95 fuel, diesel, and LPG, which is estimated to result in an RM6 billion subsidy this year.
• The government is expanding psychosocial support through channels like as “Talian Kasih” and allocating RM15 million to NGOs to address social concerns.
• HRD Corp has been allocated RM125 million to implement the “place and train” project under the Janapreneur plan.

As part of the PEMULIH stimulus package, the government has earmarked an additional RM400 million to enhance the nation’s supply of Covid-19 vaccinations. Beginning this month, the government has decided to enhance the salary for health volunteers who work more than 12 hours each day from RM50 to RM100.

Overall, the Prime Minister noted that the government has allotted RM1 billion as part of its PEMULIH stimulus package to expedite the immunisation programme.
