RTS Operations Pte Ltd has awarded Pestech International Bhd’s company Pestech Technology Sdn Bhd a contract of RM64.95 million for traction power supply of Rapid Transit System (RTS) Connection Asset for the RTS link between Malaysia and Singapore.
The contract is for design, manufacturing, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning, interface, warranty, and other associated operations, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia. It will begin immediately and will be finished by 30th September 2026.
“The purchase of this letter of acceptance through an open bidding procedure represents acknowledgement of Pestech’s capacity in providing comprehensive EPCC (engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning) in rail electrification projects and plants,” it stated.
According to the firm, the project will contribute favourably to Pestech’s future revenue and profit in the financial years ending 30th June 2022 to 30th June 2027, depending on the stage of project completion.
The RTS is a 4-kilometer connection linking Johor Bahru and Woodlands that will have a capacity of 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction when it opens, with a projected daily ridership of over 40,000.
