From 21st May to 3rd June 2021, an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be in effect at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) campus in Skudai, Johor, according to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Senior Minister (Security Cluster).

According to him, 346 screening tests were done at Kolej Datin Seri Endon, Kolej Tun Hussein Onn, Kolej Tun Dr Ismail, Kolej 9 and 10, as well as the university’s health clinic, yielding 49 positive COVID-19 cases.

“In the vicinity, 14.2% positivity rate was also documented, and positive cases have spread to numerous additional residential institutions.

In a statement released today, he stated, “The adoption of the EMCO is to enable early detection of COVID-19 positive patients and prevent the virus from spreading to other regions.”

The EMCO in Kampung Permatang Tulang Mukim Sebatu, Jasin, Melaka, Kampung Lubok Katak, Tapah, Perak and Sekolah Menengan Kebangsaan Madai, Kunak, Sabah will be removed tomorrow, according to Ismail Sabri, after the remaining active cases in those regions have shown a diminishing trend.

Meanwhile, Sabri said that 513 people were detained yesterday for breaking the movement control order’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs).

He said 484 were given compound notices and 29 were remanded out of the total.

Not wearing face masks, which included 185 people, failing to record personal details or registration at premises (105), failing to observe physical distancing (79), non-compliance with movement control instructions (57), engaging in gambling activities (12), engaging in activities at entertainment outlets (five), and interstate or inter-district travel without a permit were among the offences recorded, according to him.
