Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group has successfully signed a MoU with Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju) to provide training and employment opportunities for unemployed graduates in port and logistic industry

Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of the MMC Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju) to provide training and work opportunities for unemployed graduates in the port and logistics industries.

Yayasan Peneraju is an agency under the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) that focuses on strengthening the capacity towards the sustainability of Bumiputera talents.

Ts. Mohd Muzzammil Ismail, CEO of Yayasan Peneraju, and Marco Neelsen, CEO of PTP, signed the agreement with the presence of Jaizal Kamar Jalaludin, Head of Division, Human Capital Management, PTP, and Dr Amina Josetta Kayani, Director of Strategy & Engagement, Yayasan Peneraju, who were also present at the ceremony.

Ts. Mohd Muzzammil Ismail said that the relationship depicts Yayasan Peneraju and PTP’s contribution to the national agenda of growing the number of highly qualified young Bumiputera talents in high-impact sectors like the port and logistics industry.

“Such cooperation is important in catalysing the growth of human capital to meet the needs of a developed country, while achieving Malaysia’s aspiration to become a high-income nation by 2030, in line with the aspirations of the Shared Prosperity Vision (SPV) 2030,” added Muzzammil.

PTP’s CEO, Marco Neelsen said, “The signing of MoU between Yayasan Peneraju and PTP marks another important milestone in PTP’s commitment to attracting and developing the best young talents with specific skills in Port Terminal Equipment and Management towards providing a well-trained young talent pools and high skilled employees in PTP and Malaysia in general.”

The Port Operations Planning Apprentice (POPA) and the Young Engineer Apprentice Programme (YEAP) are two apprenticeship programmes established by PTP. PTP will begin the next batch of YEAP and POPA with Yayasan Peneraju, taking the total number of candidates to 36.

PTP’s efforts to enhance the competency level and expertise of its existing and prospective employees include mutual cooperation with institutions of higher learning and government agencies such as Yayasan Peneraju. It’s also an example of the company’s effort to find new viable and effective ways to empower its workforce.
