Off late we have been inundated with COVID-19 news, CMCO or bleak news. Then the National Budget 2021 started overtaking the headlines and Johor is not far behind as the state government receives its approval from the federal government on Johor Budget 2021. We welcome the positivity and in line with this, Johor Menteri Besar Johor, Datuk Ir. Hasni bin Mohammad announced today at the Johor Budget 2021 that it plans to create Medini as the Johor Digital Hub.

Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MIM) appreciates this gesture as Medini is now ready to host a digital hub with its comprehensive infrastructure built. The 2,230 acres Medini township located in Iskandar Puteri, Johor is developed with quality infrastructures and utilities such as telco ducting for fibre optic, smart traffic lights, surveillance, and high bandwidth connectivity to help spur the digital economy activities, making it an ideal location for a digital hub. To date, MIM have invested RM1.4 billion for the infrastructure.

MIM Head of Company, Mohamad Zamani Razali said, “MIM is committed to collaborate with the state government in building Johor Digital Hub in Medini. Through the expertise of our valuable shareholder, Mitsui Japan, MIM will provide various smart solutions to build sustainable smart city ecosystems. We share similar aspiration with Johor state government to attract and cultivate local and foreign investors in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), while promoting the growth of the sector in the southern region.”

The smart solutions will enhance the people’s quality of life and achieve a sustainable economic and technological ecosystem that would ultimately create a smart, connected, and inclusive community in Medini.
