Despite the cancellation of the Sunrise Run meant to commence on 23rd March 2020 due to the announcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on 18th March 2020, a handful of the participants who had paid and registered proceeded with the run as usual, albeit in a ‘virtual’ sense. The Run had raised a total of RM13,500 and was donated to the Rotary Club of Tebrau, Johor Bahru.

“The purpose of the Run was for the novelty of running 5 – 10kms on the golf course for a charitable cause,” said Tan Kai Yang, General Manager of Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort.  “Nevertheless, just for the fun of it and as we already distributed the Runner’s Kit which consisted of the T-shirt, the number bib and the finisher medal, we encouraged participants to run at any remote place for 10km.  Prizes were then given for the best pictures of them completing the run and submitted online into our Facebook page.”

Participants were required to prove the completed mileage of run at 10km using mobile sports apps such as Garmin, Strava, Suunto, Coros, Runkeeper, and etc. that reveals actual time and distance of run from start to finish. The top two winners out of ten were Jamie Ng and Seah Li Mui who received Ponderosa’s Leisure Pass worth RM400 each, while eight consolation prize winners received food & beverage vouchers.
