Johor E-Marketplace with E-Commerce Titan Shopee to Assist Over 3,000 Entrepreneurs

The Johor State Government through Kumpulan Permodalan Darul Ta’zim (PDT), a subsidiary of Perbadanan Usahawan Johor (PUJB) has signed a partnership with one of the leading e-commerce platforms, Shopee, to launch the ‘Johor E-Marketplace’, to help expand marketing and increase sales for entrepreneurs online.

This cooperation will provide an opportunity for Johor entrepreneurs to leverage on the new wave of digital economy now that more Malaysian consumers are relying on e-commerce a lot.

Johor E-Marketplace will be running from 9th August 2020 to 31st December 2020 and a special microsite will feature tens of thousands of Johor-made products from various categories such as snacks, fashion, home appliances and famous local products such as chips, otak-otak, Johor laksa paste, Johor jerseys and etc.

Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Ir. Haji Hasni bin Mohammad, said more than 3,000 entrepreneurs in the state of Johor and Shopee users are targeted to enjoy the benefits of the microsite which will serve as a platform for businesses to find a much more private approach to connect with users nationwide. As physical distancing is still encouraged, this initiative will ease geographical challenges for businesses.

The state government will provide discount vouchers to help Johor entrepreneurs increase their online sales along with a comprehensive range of product marketing assets, training skills in handling Shopee e-commerce accounts through Shopee University. Customer service is also provided to support SME businesses in Johor.

He said, “Johor E-Marketplace is believed to be able to give a positive impact and drive economic development in the state of Johor, especially to various industries, especially when seeing Johor as one of the new powers of the Malaysian economy and its strategic position.”
