SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM Environment) has step in to combat the COVID-19 pandemic by partnering with other government agencies commencing the Public Sanitation Operation which begins on 30th March 2020 in both Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
SWM Environment Corporate General Manager, Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin said around 100 members were trained in all three states, Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan to operate the public sanitation operation utilising 20 spraying machines (water jet) and 4 water tank engines.
‘Operasi Sinaran’ in Kampung Sinaran Baru, Johor Bahru runs with 35 SWM Environment members with (8) engines water tanker and a four-wheel drive.
He said SWM Environment not only provided solid waste management and public cleanup services as usual during the ongoing Movement Control Order (MCO), but has also committed to prepare any available resources and assets they have in hand to engage in the public sanitation operations coordinated by the Fire Department and Rescue Malaysia (JBPM).
He added that the frequency of implementation of public sanitation operations involving SWM Environment would be in accordance with the decision of the Coordinating Committee with locations mainly on main roads, traffic lights, street lights, buildings and public facilities along the main roads. SME Environment has implemented bulk waste collection and drainage services at affected locations in lieu of the initial spraying operation.
Mohd Norlisam would also like the people to do their part in combating the COVID-19 pandemic by staying in their homes as ordered by the Government during the MCO period.
