Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) is supporting the Johor STEM Carnival 2024 to demonstrate its commitment to empowering Johor’s young and encouraging talent development through upskilling activities. The Johor STEM Carnival, organised by the Johor State Education Department in collaboration with Iskandar Investment Berhad through its education arm EduCity Iskandar, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), and Raja Zarith Sofia of Johor Foundation, drew over 1,500 participants and took place at the EduCity Sports Complex.

The Johor STEM Carnival is an annual event that promotes and develops abilities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among students and young people. This year’s programme focused on the importance of STEM education as a foundation for future talent development. The carnival provided a dynamic platform for kids to acquire and improve their STEM-related abilities, which are critical for success in today’s rapidly expanding technological landscape. This year, 418 kids from various schools in Johor demonstrated their talents in twelve different categories, with the majority of winners being from the Johor Bahru region.

Aznan Tamim, Johor State EXCO of Education and Information, stated, “The Johor State Government provides comprehensive and quality education to 584,737 students, in alignment with His Royal Highness Tunku Mahkota Ismail’s emphasis on the significance of education for Johor’s people. The STEM Carnival is a valuable platform for students to enhance their creative and innovative thinking, encourage healthy competition, and delve into the dynamic and ever-evolving field of STEM.”

“The Johor STEM Carnival is a vital platform for equipping Johor’s talent with the essential skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to succeed in the workforce of tomorrow, in alignment with industry demands. We believe this initiative facilitates meaningful collaboration between educational institutions, industry players, and young talents, fostering knowledge transfer and creating valuable networking opportunities. It reflects IIB’s unwavering commitment to elevating education, social welfare, and sustainable development as key pillars of Johor’s progress and prosperity. By supporting and investing in this initiative, we align with Johor’s vision to achieve 60% student enrolment in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) stream by 2028,” said Dato’ Idzham Mohd Hashim, President/Chief Executive of Iskandar Investment Berhad.
