3 Months’ Salary to be Channelled to Johor’s COVID-19 Disaster Fund

Contribution will be used to enhance the state’s public health capacity

Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Ir. Haji Hasni Mohammad through a statement dated 3rd June has announced that the Johor State Executive Council members’ salary of 3 months will be channeled to Johor’s Disaster Fund (Tabung Bencana Negeri Johor).

The contribution will come from the members’ June to August 2021 salary and will be used to enhance the state’s public health capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since its establishment last year following the outbreak of COVID-19, the Johor Disaster Fund has received a total of RM44.83 million of contributions in cash and equipment from various parties. To date, a total of RM41.65 million of the contribution have been used for the benefit of the people.

Hasni encourages all legislators in Johor to donate a percentage of their allowance to the Johor State Disaster Fund in hopes of improving resources and public health capacity in the state. He also invites the private sector, corporations, government-linked enterprises (GLCs), and individuals to donate so that more people in need can benefit.
