The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) through Perbadanan Kraftangan Malaysia (Kraftangan Malaysia) is organising the Johor Craft Festival (FKJ), 20th December 20 2023 until 1st January 2024, from 10.00 a.m. – 10.00 p.m. at Padang Akasia, Angsana Johor Bahru Mall.
According to a social media post released by MOTAC, the main purpose of this event is to provide a platform for craft entrepreneurs to promote and commercialise Malaysian craft products to the local community and tourists. Furthermore, the event seeks to increase community knowledge and awareness of Malaysian-made craft products.
The organisation of FKJ 2023 is one of the marquee events that are looked forward by craft entrepreneurs, visitors, and craft product enthusiasts throughout the state. The local craft entrepreneurs involved are from the fields of textile craft, forest products, land products, metal products, and various crafts.
FKJ 2023 highlights activities such as Craft Sale, ‘Ini Kraf Malaysia’ Exhibition, National Craft Institute Exhibition, Adiguru Craft Exhibition 2023, Craft Interactive, and MYCRAFTSHOPPE Exhibition. This event focuses on the uniqueness of carpentry crafts such as sails, window lattices and wall panels, waqfs, gazebos, pergolas, and furniture through the activities of the Architecture, Yard, and Garden Decoration Exhibition.
In addition to the exhibition, there is also a Craft Demonstration on wood carving with Abd Muhaimin Hasbollah (Adiguru Wood Craft 2019), A.Samri a/l Abdul Rahman (Adiguru Mah Meri Statue Carving Craft 2021) and Norhaiza Noordin (National Craft Figure 2022).
FKJ 2023 also highlights Visitor Encouragement Activities that include Art Performances, Competitions (Pop Yeh Yeh Cilik, Ligat Top, Glam Kebaya Batik Malaysia, and Children’s Batik Colouring), and FKJ Attraction Activities (FKJ Stylo Stylista, Bual Bicara@FKJ, Batik Dance Gymnastics Malaysia, and Malaysia Dress Day).
