Ten thousand people from all across the nation participated in the Laksamana Run 2025, which was organised by the Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation (TLJCF) and took place in Gateway Garden, Medini, Iskandar Puteri, in a vibrant setting.
Now in its ninth year, the charity run programme’s theme of bubbles, music, and neon created a vibrant and upbeat ambiance along the night run course. As a way that raises funds to support those in need, it still serves as a symbol of the community’s sympathy for cancer patients.
This year, TLJCF is also celebrating its 10th anniversary with the theme “A Decade of Care”, as a token of appreciation to the community, sponsoring partners and volunteers who have continued to support the fight to help cancer patients over the past decade.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Her Royal Highness Tunku Tun Aminah Binti Sultan Ibrahim, Royal Patron of the Laksamana Run, who also received a replica cheque for donations worth RM50,000.00 from the participants of the Laksamana Run 2025.

A replica cheque of RM1,135,000 total donation collection, which came from the participation and contributions of the programme sponsors, was also delivered by Tunku Tun Aminah Binti Sultan Ibrahim as a highlight of the occasion.
Among the Platinum sponsors who expressed their strong support were the Johor Menteri Besar Office, Yayasan Johor Corporation, Berjaya Corporation Berhad, and Qul Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd.
Since its first event in 2017, the Laksamana Run has successfully raised a total of RM7,428,821.00, which was used to finance treatment, provide emotional support and financial assistance to cancer patients under the TLJCF programme.
Mohd Ikmal Izam Zaini, Chief Executive Officer of TLJCF, in a statement said that the success of this year’s event reflects the strength of the spirit of togetherness of the Johor community.
“Laksamana Run is not just a running event, but a symbol of the community’s concern and love for cancer patients. We greatly appreciate every contribution and participation that has been the heart of TLJCF’s struggle for the past decade,” he said.
Accompanying Tunku Tun Aminah Binti Sultan Ibrahim was Dato’ Dennis Muhammad Abdullah. Also present at the event were Haji Hasrin Kamal Bin Hashim, Mayor of Iskandar Puteri City Council; Dato’ Haji Ismail Bin Karim, Member of the Board of Directors of TLJCF; Col. (Rtd) Dato’ Mohamed Perang Bin Haji Musa, Executive Director of TLJCF; Dato’ Haji On Bin Jabbar @ Jaafar, Deputy Secretary to the Johor Government – Sports, Youth and Volunteers; Ambok Nani Bin Muhamad Nor, Chief Assistant District Officer of Johor Bahru; Supt. Mohd Azlan Bin Abdul Kadir, Iskandar Puteri Police Chief; Haji Ezahar Abu Sairin, Secretary of the Iskandar Puteri City Council; and Mohd Ikmal Izam Zaini, Chief Executive Officer of TLJCF.
Laksamana Square, which is adjacent to the MBIP building, was also inaugurated at the same time by the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) as a memorial to the late Tunku Abdul Jalil Ibni Sultan Ibrahim’s battle against cancer and as a sign of support for others who are battling the disease.
The mesmerising aurora light show was the gimmick for the historic launch.
Along with the running event, the programme held various community events that Laksamana Run participants often look forward to, including health exhibits, sale booths, musical performances, and etc.
For cancer patients and their families in Johor and across Malaysia, the Laksamana Run is still one of the biggest charity running events down south, and a source of hope and inspiration.
