Accepting the award from Jodie Harsh, Yungblud said, “Live music and live playing is everything to me. It’s all I ever wanted to do. I just want to connect with people and find a family that is my own.” Feeling “knackered” from 120 shows this year Yungblud paid tribute to his fellow nominees and the effort of touring. Moving on, he briefly tackled the conversation around Artificial Intelligence. “In a world of artificial intelligence you can’t beat human connection. You can’t bet pouring your heart out on stage, screaming, everything. That’s what we all got into this for.” Finally, he closed by saying, “British music means everything to me. I want to take it worldwide.”
Hailing Yungblud’s abilities as a live performer in the latest awards issue of Rolling Stone UK wrote: “This is the man who is a “Tasmanian devil of pop-rock”, as our cover interview explained last year, but also one who has managed to forge his own individual path as a very 21st century rock star. “He may have all the uniting energy of the genre’s greatest stars, but tempers it with a unique ability to create a space where his crowd can feel safe from the world for a couple of hours, regardless of their colour, creed, sexuality, or pronouns.”
