In an effort to ensure tertiary students from the low-income group (B40) are not left out in pursuing further education, especially those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Yayasan Johor Corporation (Yayasan JCorp) has introduced Bantuan Awal Pendidikan (Education Assistance) initiative to help alleviate the burdens of parents and guardians for the registration of their children to institutions of higher learning (IPT) while waiting for education loans and scholarships to be approved.
Since its launch in 2017 until June 2021, more than 800 students nationwide benefited from the accumulative RM330,000 of the said assistance.
JCorp Foundation target recipients in the B40 family group and average household income below RM800 based on the total family dependents.
Chairman of the Yayasan JCorp, Rozaini Mohd Sani said in a statement, “This assistance is given based on the monthly income eligibility requirements of the household (and) is open to Malaysian students who will further their studies for Certificate and Diploma levels as well as Bachelor and Masters in full-time mode in IPT with applicants eligible to receive RM700 and RM1,000 each”.
Each application will go through a screening process by a special committee.
Yayasan JCorp also welcomes public contributions for Education Assistance. Interested parties may channel their contributions through the Bank Islam account: Yayasan Johor Corporation (01014010027795). Each contribution is eligible for a 10% tax relief of the aggregate income of the individual and the company.
