The international education industry in Malaysia shows no sign of slowing down. There are currently more than 170 international schools in the country where a majority are located in the Klang Valley. In recent years, Johor has become a popular hub for international education due to its proximity to Singapore and its vibrant international community. Johor is currently home to 19 international schools. Many of the international schools in Johor are located in its capital city, Johor Bahru. There are also schools located in newer townships such as Iskandar Puteri and Forest City as well as in Masai, Skudai and Muar.
Popular international curricula offered by international schools in Johor are the American Curriculum, British Curriculum, Cambridge Curriculum and International Baccalaureate Curriculum. Several schools also offer the Singapore Curriculum for Science and Mathematics subjects. For added convenience, boarding facilities are also commonly offered by international schools in Johor.
The search for the right school for any parent is a time-consuming process that requires plenty of research and financial planning. This is because international schools differ from one another in terms of curricula offered, fees, facilities, learning environment and ethos, among others. Therefore, the Private & International School Fairs aim to help parents make that search easier by connecting them with leading international schools in the country under one roof.
Since 2012, Mint Communications have organised successful fairs in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak, and Singapore. The fairs in Johor have also gained popularity in terms of number of visitors and exhibitors since its inception. In 2019, two fairs were held in Johor to meet the demand from local and expatriate parents.
According to Nickie Yew, co-founder and director of Mint Communications, “The upcoming fair in Johor will mark the first time that it will be held in an exhibition centre over the weekend for two days. I am delighted that the fairs in Johor have grown to what they are today. We hope visitors will receive the information they need to make important decisions about their children’s education.”
