As part of Visit Johor Year 2026 (VJY2026), the Johor government will offer a free bus service to make it easier for visitors to move about Johor Bahru city.

According to Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, this project would make travel easier and give visitors comfort.

He added that even though the city is undergoing development, the transport options offered would guarantee their trips will go on without a hitch.

“I see the construction work in this city as part of development, for example, and we have free buses near urban areas. This is to facilitate movement. The construction works will not be a constraint,” he said at a press conference after officiating at the launching ceremony of the official mascot, tagline, song and video of VJY2026 at the Johor Zoo.

According to Bernama, he made this statement when asked if the city’s ongoing building projects, such as the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS Link), will make it more difficult for tourists to arrive.

Onn Hafiz then added, a number of initiatives are underway to improve the roads and tourism infrastructure in anticipation of VJY2026.

He said that the use of technology, such as the rapid response (QR) code system at the given immigration counters, will further facilitate the flow of tourists into and out of the border gates.
