Inspired by the 2022 UOB Southeast Asian Painting of the Year (POY) winning artwork by Thai artist Chomrawi Suksom, the 13th UOB POY programme identity shows how the evolving sphere symbolises our world in a constant state of change and renewal, represented by different cultures and identities

UOB Malaysia has launched the 13th UOB Painting of the Year (POY) (Malaysia) competition and is inviting established and emerging artists to uncover their passion for art and showcase their ingenuity.

The UOB POY competition is the Bank’s flagship regional visual arts programme and one of Southeast Asia’s most prestigious annual art competitions that aims to uncover and nurture artistic talent across the region. This year, the regional art competition has expanded its reach to Vietnam, enabling many more to uncover their passion for art.

Ng Wei Wei, Chief Executive Officer, UOB Malaysia said, “At UOB Malaysia, we believe that art plays a catalytic role in society in raising social change, creating a bigger conversation and uniting people of different cultures and backgrounds. The beauty of art is that it also brings communities closer together by broadening our understanding of each other, which is why we continue to make art more accessible to the wider community. In line with the Bank’s Purpose of ‘Building the future of ASEAN’, the launch of the 13th edition of our annual UOB POY art competition affirms our longstanding support of the Malaysian arts, and our commitment to nurturing the next generation of Southeast Asian artists, helping them to reach their full potential.”
