Tourism Johor was recognised by ASIA Records in the category ‘Most International Visitor Entries Recorded via Land Border Crossings between Two Fully Independent Sovereign Nations within a Joint Bilateral Special Economic Zone’.

Eldrick Koh, Managing Director of ASIA Records and ASEAN Records, presented the award to Mohammad Nazrul Abd Rahim, Director of Tourism Johor, as part of the Visit Johor 2026 Convention and the Johor Tourism Industry Hari Raya Celebration Ceremony.

ASIA Records, an institution that documents, validates, and celebrates extraordinary achievements across Asia, has recognised Johor’s ability to serve as a major land-based gateway for international tourists after recording over 24 million international visitor arrivals in 2025, including over 19 million from Singapore.

Previously, the Visit Johor Year 2026 Convention, organised by the state government through Tourism Johor, brought together tourism industry players as a platform to strengthen the promotion of Johor as a preferred destination for domestic and international tourists. The convention was officiated by Mohd Masni bin Wakiman, Johor Bahru District Officer, as a representative of the Menteri Besar of Johor.

The state government believes that Visit Johor Year 2026, with a target of 12 million domestic and international tourists and a potential economic impact of more than RM42 billion, will create more job opportunities, boost the local economy, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and highlight the uniqueness of the Johor people on a global scale.

Furthermore, the development of new tourism products such as the Night Zoo at the Johor Zoo, the Johor Heroes Museum, the Johor National Park Tanjung Piai, and the upgrade of the Sultan Abu Bakar Heritage Complex (KWSAB) are expected to boost the state’s appeal.

All tourism industry players are also encouraged to make cultural elements the main attraction by promoting ‘Meh Lah Johor’ experience packages such as stirring Dodol, cooking Lemang, and learning the Zapin dance, which are authentic and unique to Johor.
