The most recent edition of the Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2018 saw UMLand Seri Austin taking home the Gold Award for “The Best Green Initiative”.
The guest of honour was International Trade and Industry Ministry secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak.
SOBA was introduced to promote business excellence and encourage healthy competition among local small and medium enterprises as well as encourage SMEs to aim higher.
In December 2014, UMLand’s most established township, UMLand Seri Austin was the first recognised First Smoke-Free Town Park and in July 2015 Seri Austin Gallery was gazetted as the first Smoke Free Work Place in Iskandar Malaysia. Both were Blue Ribbon recognitions from the Ministry of Health. Seri Austin is also the first Smart Healthy City & Communities Township in Iskandar Malaysia.
