In a world where corporate initiatives towards diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) are on the rise, a startling gap remains between business leader efforts and employee perceptions. According to a recent survey by PWC Global, only 4% of organisations are excelling in key dimensions of successful DE&I programming. Recognising this critical issue, Tatsuya Suzuki decided to release “Getting to the Core of Diversity Equity and Inclusion” (published by Partridge Singapore).

This book provides a comprehensive guide into the best practices and actionable strategies that drive DE&I initiatives beyond superficial data points. Here, Tatsuya presents perception-based research insights from Japan, China, Korea, Oceania, and India, highlighting the cultural nuances that shape DE&I expectations across different regions. The results underscore the importance of understanding employee perceptions to drive effective DE&I activities and create meaningful organisational change.

“Even if companies achieve a 50:50 perfect gender ratio, people won’t get a positive perception because these companies don’t address the core of DE&I,” the author points out. “The reason a lot of companies can’t do effective DE&I initiatives is that managers underestimate the difficulties of DE&I. If all managers’ level of DE&I understanding get higher, I believe all people can work more productive, more innovative, and more energetically in their workplace, which eventually contributes to making our society better.”

“Getting to the Core of Diversity Equity and Inclusion” is an essential read for CEOs and senior executives committed to building innovative, high-performance teams within a thriving work environment.
