A perfect hi-tea with a view suitable for two
Expectation was high as I took the lift from the car park at level 2 to level 33A at Suasana Suites, located within the same building of Zenith and neighbouring Amari JB at Jalan Trus, Johor Bahru. Upon arrived, I was greeted by the friendly attendants at Suasana Suites Cafe with a rooftop view, offering plenty of natural sunlight, creating a pleasant and serene ambience.
The Tiffin Weekend Afternoon Tea commenced last week and it is from 2pm till 5.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays only.
But you may wonder why it is called ‘tiffin’? It’s just as the name suggests, the meals are served in tiffin cases or known as ‘mangkuk tingkat’ (level bowls) for a touch of traditional tea time. Tiffin used to be a household’s necessity in the olden days especially to pack meals on the go and Suasana is bringing back that feeling onto their table.
Inside the colourful bowls are meals and snacks for two where each would get Nasi Lemak and Mee Hoon, Nyonya kuihs, Banana cake and a beverage. The café offers Jasmine tea that will help you rinse your palate in between the food you are having and if tea is not your thing, they also have several choices of beverages to pick from their menu. My suggestion would be the classic favourite; Teh Tarik that goes well with this tea time goodies.
Both Nasi Lemak and Mee Hoon are served in banana leaves, giving them a beautiful fragrant that would ignite your appetite. As you chat and enjoy the beautiful view of Johor Bahru at the 33rd floor, taste some Nyonya kuih like Anku kuih, Kuih Dadar, Kuih Lapis and Seri Muka. Additionally, if you love crisps, Keropok is also served with a sweet and spicy chilli sauce that you can dip or lather over with!
