Deepavali is literally days away and Care United Johor Bahru celebrated Deepavali 2020 with Food Aid to needy families residing in the Ulu Tiram community of Johor Bahru. Chairman of Malaysia Indian Congress (MIC), and Chairman of Health and Environment Committee Vidyanathan a/l Ramanadhan officiated the event that took place at Taman Dato Chellam, Ulu Tiram’s MIC office.
The Food Aid hamper is valued at RM100.00 per recipient and contains everyday essentials such as rice (5kg pack), canned sardines (1 tin), cooking oil (1kg), Milo (1kg), 2 packs of rice vermicelli, flour (1kg) and additionally 1kg milk powder graciously donated by Yayasan Kebajikan Suria Kawasan Permas Jaya Johor Bahru. The hamper also contains 2 boxes of face masks donated by Durio PPE Sdn Bhd, Johor Bahru.
Care United allocated a sum of RM5,500.00 for this Food Aid and the groceries were purchased from a supermarket in Taman Molek. The Food Aid will definitely help the families reduce their household expenses and timely for Deepavali which will be happening this Saturday the 14th of November 2020.
With the RMCO in place, Care United JB took all necessary precautions under strict SOP guidelines, social distancing and distributing without a crowd to ensure the safety of all recipients, members and the public.
This event has been made possible thanks to the continued support of donors and it is hoped that corporate partners will continue to support the community work done by Care United throughout the year. Currently, Care United JB has gifted food aid to an estimated 700 families for the year 2020.
