SDS Group Bhd, a retailer and manufacturer of bakery goods, is reportedly paying RM101.7 million for a 14.3-hectare (35.4-acre) plot of land in Johor Bahru in order to construct a new manufacturing facility.
The Edge, in its report, said the group stated in a bourse filing that the property is directly across from its current operational facilities.
The land is being purchased by London Bakery Sdn Bhd, a division of SDS, from Kempas Green Development Sdn Bhd, a company that is primarily owned by Toh Thim Leong.
The property was valued at RM102 million on 31st December 2025, by independent valuer Cheston International (Johor) Sdn Bhd, which is slightly less than the RM101.7 million asking price.
According to SDS, shareholders must approve the land purchase at an extraordinary general meeting that will be held later.
The group plans to finish the purchase by the second half of 2026.
The SDS Group was valued at RM368.63 million after its shares ended the day 1.5 sen, or 2.26%, lower at 68 sen.
The Johor homegrown company has developed its business with three subsidiary brands, including its retail brand, S.D.S., and its wholesale brands, Top Baker and Daily’s.
