Following the news that university and college campuses would reopen as part of the Ministry of Higher Education’s (MOHE) Recovery Plan, fully vaccinated students will return to campus for physical lessons after a long period of learning online.
Sunway University and Sunway College are fully prepared for the reopening and look forward to welcoming back students who are thrilled to be back on campus. Sunway Campus has undertaken efforts with internal safety measures for the reopening to provide the highest degree of safety and protection for students and staff for studying and teaching.
“We at the Sunway Education Group (SEG) have missed our students and are excited to have them back, safe and healthy, to continue with face-to-face classes. I am sure our students are also excited to be back too, to be able to see and talk to their friends and lecturers face-to-face once again,” said Professor Elizabeth Lee, CEO, Sunway Education Group.
Sunway University collaborated with Nestlé to welcome and reintroduce the joy of campus life to the returning student community. Students were surprised with Nestlé-sponsored NESCAFÉ and a ‘Welcome Back’ cupcake created by the Sunway University Young Chefs Club, which is led by Professor Patrick Siau. Professor Siau coached the Malaysia Pastry Team, which won the World Pastry Cup in 2019.
“I’m so surprised and find this really heart-warming. The coffee and cupcake are nice and I really enjoyed them”, said Teh Kai Hoon, an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) student from Sunway TES. “I think this is great because a lot of students might be tired due to the pandemic, and when we return to the campus and see such a nice gesture from Sunway, it really makes our day better,” said Priscilla, a student from Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY), Sunway College upon receiving the gifts.
“SEG together with Professor Patrick Siau and the Sunway University Young Chefs hope this bit of personal touch will help brighten up their first day back to campus. We expect a queue as students will have to adhere to the entry SOPs which include filling up and submitting the SEG digital health declaration form, display their MySejahtera fully vaccinated status and get their temperatures checked. As such, we hope the cup of coffee graciously sponsored by Nescafe, and cupcake will ease this return process,” added Prof Elizabeth Lee.
“As life is returning to normal, students will be back to the university – after such a long break from their peers and lecturers. Nothing beats a great cup to NESCAFÉ to reconnect with friends and colleagues and have a moment of togetherness! So, Welcome Back Fellow Students and let’s start reconnecting where you left off, over a cup of NESCAFÉ with your peers and lecturers,” said Othman Chraibi, Business Executive Officer of the Beverages Business Unit, Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad.
Sunway University is concerned about our student’s well-being and the team hopes to spread positivity and perk up the spirits of our students on their return. Sunway University is also the only known university in the world that has launched its own #CampusWithaConscience campaign.
#CampusWithaConscience is a guiding philosophy that encompasses everything students will encounter at Sunway College and Sunway University. This is the fundamental spirit at the heart of Sunway Campus Life: to support students in adopting a lifestyle and lifestyle habits that truly reflect a society determined to create a better living environment for this generation and future generations by educating, encouraging, and engaging them in all aspects of a diverse and inclusive community.
