The Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort Staff Club recently organised resort-wide donations from all staff to buy and donate items from a wish list put on the Facebook page of the Villa Paulos Care Organisation for Orphans and Poor Children.

“As it is in conjunction with Ponderosa’s 30th Anniversary celebration in the month of August, the Management and the Staff wanted to contribute back to our community who are in need, as a gesture of our appreciation for the grace for what we are today and for what we have. We are proud of this project as all our employees collaborated together,” said Tan Kai Yang, General Manager of Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort.

The wish list was posted on the Facebook of Villa Paulos as well as shared with the members of the Malaysian Association of Hotels, and the resort’s staff club took it on as the year’s charity project.

A total of RM2000 were collected and the funds were used to buy the longer-term utilities provided in the list that the children needed, such as six (6) multi-purpose foldable work tables, four (4) drawer cabinets and a Sharp microwave oven solely contributed by the General Manager and heads of the various departments. Besides the wish list, the management also topped up with a carom table, football game table and a Monopoly set for the children’s recreation.

Staff Club Chairman Mohd Sani distributes packed food to the children

“Visiting the home and understanding how the orphans lived gave me and my committee members the spirit to be grateful for what we have and being able to contribute in our little ways that gave us a sense of gladness. I sincerely wish for the well-being and happiness of the children and hope that they will be able to overcome whatever diversities in life to succeed,” said Mohd Sani Bin Shu’ib, the Chairman of the Staff Club who is from the resort’s maintenance team.

The resort’s F&B / kitchen staff also took the extra mile to prepare and pack a fast-food lunch for the 25 children aged between 9 and 17 years old. The staff club brought along burgers, chicken nuggets, sausages and etc. where the children would enjoy eating for a change.

Villa Paulos Care Organisation for Orphans and Poor Children was incorporated in the year 2008 for the purpose of caring for and sheltering boys and girls who were neglected, exploited, abused, abandoned and orphaned.
