Randstad is aware of recent incidents involving individuals and/or organisations that are impersonating the company on Instagram via sponsored advertisements on Instagram Stories. We do not use sponsored advertisements to invite users to start a WhatsApp chat.
Scammers are using Randstad’s company name to set up fraudulent social media accounts to target members of the public in Malaysia. The scammers would use the fraudulent social media accounts to purchase sponsored advertisements on Meta’s platforms (Instagram and Facebook) to invite users to start a WhatsApp chat with them. The targeted public members are often offered attractive full-time and part-time job opportunities that offer good commissions with other Malaysia-based companies.
The company would like to ask the public to be vigilant when using social media to avoid similar scams. The company also requests users to report any suspicious activity that they see on social media directly via the website or mobile app.
Social media users should always avoid starting a Whatsapp chat through social media advertisements to protect themselves against digital identity spoofing or monetary losses.
Please note that these individuals and/or organisations who are posting fraudulent job advertisements and requesting individuals to pay a sum of money or disclose their personal information, do not work for Randstad, any of our group of companies or the companies that we represent in any way.
Do not share your personal and private information with scammers.
Members of the public are advised to stay vigilant
If the job offer looks too good to be true, it is very likely to be a scam. Randstad employees undergo formal training to ensure a transparent and respectable candidate sourcing and screening process.
- Randstad employees will never ask you whether you are above 18 years old or your age on messaging or social media platforms.
- Randstad employees will only use their business email accounts (@randstad.com.my), professional LinkedIn accounts, video conferencing and face-to-face meetings as their first point of contact with all job seekers.
- Job offers made by Randstad employees will always include an employment contract that will only be sent to you from a business email account (@randstad.com.my).
- Randstad employees will only request your personal information via e-mail sent from official Randstad email domains (@randstad.com.my) as reasonably necessary for Randstad to determine your suitability for a role we are recruiting for a Client.

Steps you can take to protect yourself against job scams:
- Do not respond to text messages and calls from unknown numbers.
- Never transfer money to people you do not know or have not met.
- Do not share your personal information such as your NRIC/MYKad number, phone number, bank account number or debit/credit card details.
- If you’re unsure whether the job or user who reached out to you is legitimate, you should contact us directly via our website chatbot, phone (+60 3-2036 6666) or send your inquiry to report@randstad.com.my.
If you receive any scam calls or text messages, you should file a report directly to Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
