Jointly organised by the Young & Dangerous Golf Group (YnD) and Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort, the PING FOR HOPE 2026 Charity Golf Tournament raised a total of RM195,000 to benefit the Kiwanis CareHeart Centre, a non-profit organisation focused on education, vocational training and support for persons with special needs, empowering them for greater independence and employment.
“I feel truly thankful for our Johor Bahru community, especially the sponsors, donors and participants, for coming together once again to help those who are in need. It is always our hope that through this annual event that we take turns to organise, we are able, in whatever small ways, to raise awareness of the challenges that neurodivergent adults and their families face. Kindness within our community should always be shared and spread,” said Gwee Chu Han, the organising chairperson of the PING FOR HOPE 2026 YnD-Ponderosa Charity Golf Tournament.
The cheque was presented to Melvin Song, the President of the Kiwanis CareHeart Centre.
The PING FOR HOPE Charity Golf started as an initiative by a group of young entrepreneurs and professionals who were also keen golfers and have been running for six years. They named their group as the Young and Dangerous Golf Group (YnD), where golf has always been about more than the game itself.
Over the years, the group has turned its shared passion for golf into a meaningful platform for giving back, using the sport to raise funds and support communities in need.
Every year the PING FOR HOPE is chaired by a different member of the group, with the single objective for friendly competition while channelling funds to worthy groups, wherein the past, it went to patients of a dialysis centre, for children with special needs requiring special education and for breast cancer survivors.
Other than the members of the organising committee, their spouses and children were also on the field that day to drive the target for fund-raising higher, collecting cash donations from all participants as well as staff of Ponderosa Golf.
“What makes the initiative particularly meaningful is its continued growth. Every year, the funds raised have increased, reflecting the growing participation and support for the event,” said Tan Kai Yang, General Manager of Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort, co-organiser of PING FOR HOPE, and who himself is an avid golfing member of the YnD Golf Group.
