More than 7,000 people thronged to experience the ‘Night Zoo’ at Zoo Johor on its first day of operation after its announcement of the nocturnal experience.
Open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as on public and school holidays, this new attraction offers visitors a unique experience to explore the zoo atmosphere at night. Visitors have the opportunity to see more than 35 additional animal species in a more relaxed, exclusive and exciting atmosphere.
Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, chairman of the Johor Housing and Local Government Committee, stated that visitors began queuing as early as 7.30pm, demonstrating the community’s extraordinary excitement for the experience of visiting Johor Zoo at night.
According to him, there were 7,330 visitors between 8 to 10.30 p.m. on the first day.
“This is not just a number, but a clear indication that initiatives like this are eagerly anticipated and valued by the public. It also demonstrates that when public facilities are upgraded in a more creative, organised, and people-friendly manner, the results are quite extraordinary,” he wrote in his official Facebook post.
Johor Zoo’s nighttime activities include feeding shows with nocturnal animals such as marble foxes, African banded mongooses, raccoons, and porcupine.
Johor Public Transport (PAJ) ran a shuttle operation in conjunction with the opening of Johor Night Zoo.
The simulation session was held to ensure that the overall movement of visitors, traffic flow, and support services run smoothly, orderly, and safely, in conjunction with the official opening of Johor Night Zoo, which is a day before it opens.
“Various aspects were tested, including the coordination of shuttle bus services, visitor entry routes and parking management.”
‘For the convenience of the public, visitors are advised to park their vehicles at the Kota Jail parking area before boarding the shuttle bus provided directly to the entrance of Johor Night Zoo.”
“This effort is not just a technical preparation but an ongoing commitment to ensuring that every trip to Johor Night Zoo begins with a smooth and enjoyable experience while supporting the aspiration to make it one of the main attractions in conjunction with Visit Johor Year 2026,” PAJ in its Facebook post, said.
The Johor Zoo’s Night Zoo will be open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and shuttle buses are available from Kota Jail to make things easier for visitors.
Ticket prices offered are RM10 for adults and RM5 for children, while admission is free for the disabled and senior citizens, regardless of citizenship. Foreign tourist tickets are priced at RM30.
To facilitate entry and reduce congestion at the counter, the public is also encouraged to buy tickets online in advance.
