The skies may have opened up over Desaru Coast last weekend, but nothing could wash away the energy of Ombak Festival 2025. The seaside celebration once again proved why it has become a fixture on Malaysia’s music calendar.

With the extended weekend thanks to Malaysia Day, it was no wonder that Desaru was packed with locals and visitors there to enjoy the festival. Over the weekend, visitors were treated to great music, food and activities for the whole family— come rain or shine.

The main attraction of the festival was of course the music, with names such as Simply Red, Kyoto Protocol, George Clinton and Zamaera to name few, and regardless of your taste in music, there was something for everyone. Even though it rained on and off on day 2, spirits were high, and everyone just enjoyed themselves listening and vibing to the performances.

Beyond the music, the festival’s laid-back charm shone through. Kids and elderly were having fun and mingling with the younger crowd. The easy smiles said it all: a little weather could never spoil the fun.

If you were a food aficionado, then you wouldn’t be disappointed either, as some exclusive events, namely, ‘Grill’ by Andrew Walsh and ‘Muar Bites’ by Chef Sid were a major draw plus ‘Madhatter Desserts’ and ‘Carbon KL Smoke & Fire’. Nearer to the festival grounds, the crowd didn’t go hungry either, with 10 or more stalls ready to serve up a variety of dishes, from Wagyu Skewers to Poke bowls. It gave the festivalgoers as much reason to feast as to dance.

“Uniting culture and community, the festival celebrated music, food, arts and family-friendly experiences all in one. Ombak Festival 2025 was more than just a weekend celebration, it also reflected Desaru Coast’s commitment to supporting Johor’s growing role as a hub for cultural events in Southeast Asia, especially as Malaysia leads ASEAN in 2025 and gears up for Visit Johor and Visit Malaysia Year in 2026. We are grateful to visitors, partners and the Johor community for making another extraordinary weekend at Desaru Coast possible,” said Karina Ridzuan, Director of Ombak Festival 2025.

It was once again the Ultimate weekend getaway, and here’s hoping to what lays in store for 2026 for an even more unforgettable experience.
