The Nicol David Organisation (NDO) welcomed more than 300 mothers to its flagship Ibu Legends Summit 2026 recently, marking the organisation’s largest Ibu Legends gathering to date as the programme entered its second year of supporting B40 communities.
Themed “You Are the Cover Star,” the Summit recognised and empowered mothers to celebrate the everyday joys of motherhood, while shining a light on the resilience and growth of the women behind each story.
The one-day Summit anchored a broader, ongoing movement – the Ibu Legends programme, which has seen the year equipping and empowering mothers with workshops and activities covering mental wellbeing, parenting, nutrition, physical well-being and financial literacy.
Mariana de Reyes, Co-Founder & CEO of NDO, said, “Ibu Legends was created with a simple belief: when we invest in mothers, we strengthen families and communities. The Summit is an opportunity to bring our mothers together, celebrate how far mothers have come and create a space where they can learn, connect and be seen. We hope every mother leaves knowing that her story matters, her aspirations are valid, and that she deserves to prioritise herself too.”
Ahead of the Summit, NDO ran a Cover Star Search, inviting mothers to submit a photograph capturing a day in their lives, together with a personal story reflecting their journey, challenges and aspirations.
Nor Santy binti Samsinoor, 47, was named the winner after sharing her inspiring journey that reflects the care and love of a mother, a challenge that did not dishearten her but instead gave her the strength to persevere.
Samsinoor said, “As mothers, we carry so much for our families; emotionally, physically, financially but we don’t always get the chance to put ourselves first. Ibu Legends gave me a space to be seen not just as a mother, but as myself, with my own dreams and story to tell.”
Datuk Nicol David, Founder of NDO, said, “A mother’s journey is filled with strength, sacrifice, growth and dreams that are often placed on hold while caring for others. Through Ibu Legends, we want to remind mothers that their wellbeing, aspirations and stories matter too. The Ibu Legends Summit is a celebration of who they are, and a reminder that they deserve to be in the spotlight, because every mother is a Cover Star in her own right.”
The second edition of the Ibu Legends Summit welcomed more than 300 B40 mothers to Kuala Lumpur on 19th September 2026, extending the Ibu Legends community’s reach well beyond a single day and marking NDO’s largest Ibu Legends undertaking yet.
The Summit builds on NDO’s ongoing Ibu Legends programme, launched in 2024 to support B40 mothers through holistic initiatives focused on wellbeing, personal development and community connection. Since its launch, the programme has reached more than 300 mothers, welcoming two new cohorts in 2026 through workshops and activities covering mental
wellbeing, parenting, nutrition, physical wellbeing and financial literacy.
Ibu Legends is one of three flagship programmes run by NDO, alongside Little Legends and +Play.
