MDX 2023: A Celebration of Malaysia’s Achievements in the Digital Economy

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the nation’s lead digital economy agency, proudly announced the successful completion of the first-ever Malaysia Digital Expo 2023 (MDX 2023). The six-week extravaganza was not just an expo; it was a celebration of Malaysia’s vibrant digital economy.

The MDX 2023 Grand Finale, which took place from 6 to 8 November at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur, was officiated the Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim. This spectacular event served as the ultimate gathering for global industry leaders, forward-thinking innovators, and tech enthusiasts, converging under one roof which showcased and celebrated the best of the nation’s thriving digital economy.

The finale drew in industry pioneers and accelerators throughout the three-day event which consisted of an exhibition, a series of conferences as well as the MDX 2023 Awards Night. The night transformed into a pulsating celebration, a spectacular tribute that not only honoured but also revelled in the myriad achievements of tech companies and visionary individuals.

Leveraging on one of the key drivers of tech growth and advancements, in the area of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), MDX 2023 featured some of the leading lights in this sector. Among them were Zack Kass, former Head of Go-To-Market at OpenAI as well as Lee Hickin, Asia A.I. Tech and Policy Lead, Microsoft.

Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim at the opening of the Grand Finale event said, “MDX 2023 stands as a testament to Malaysia’s digital ability and the collective achievements of our tech ecosystem. This celebration not only elevates our nation’s standing on the global stage but also propels us towards a future of boundless opportunities in the digital realm.”

Echoing the Prime Minister’s sentiment, the Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil added, “MDX 2023 marks a defining moment in our journey towards a digitally empowered Malaysia. The collaborations forged and accomplishments celebrated during this expo are pivotal in shaping our nation’s digital landscape.”

In line with the nation’s vision for “Ekonomi Madani,” the sessions on AI and generative AI were the stars of the show during the event. These discussions not only stole the show but also “Raised the Ceiling and Floor” of our nation’s growing tech ecosystem, ushering in new heights of innovation and progress.

MDX 2023 event witnessed the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with CGC Digital and Paynet, Lembaga Zakat Selangor, and POD and Orpheus, marking strategic partnerships and collaborative ventures.
