The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Johor has conducted an Internet Coverage Speed and Quality Test Session at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex, Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI), Johor Bahru, to assess the level of telecommunications network readiness and ensure a more stable and quality communication experience for users and cross-border travellers.
This session was held on Sunday, 17th May 2026, with telecommunications service providers and was attended by representatives from the Malaysian Immigration Department and the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN).
Also in attendance were MCMC Deputy Managing Director Eneng Faridah Iskandar and Senior Director of the Southern Regional Office Ts. Rizal Abd Malek and the Director of the Johor State Office, Syed Isa Shekh Alsagoff.
According to a statement in MCMC’s official social media post, initial monitoring and testing revealed that several areas required further improvement, particularly network capacity, data connection stability, and coverage performance, to accommodate the large number of users at the BSI Complex.
In this regard, MCMC has directed telecommunications service providers to investigate and implement network improvement and upgrade actions, such as coverage aspects, capacity, and coverage performance in the building, to ensure a more stable, smooth, and resilient communication experience for all users.
