The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), successfully facilitated the participation of the Malaysia Pavilion at Cosmoprof Asia 2024, held in Hong Kong from 13th-15th November 2024. This marked MATRADE’s inaugural participation at the event, showcasing the vibrancy and innovation of the Malaysian beauty industry to a global audience.

Three (3) Malaysian companies proudly represented the nation under the Malaysia Pavilion, showcased a diverse range of products, including natural and organic beauty solutions, Halal certified skincare options and other cutting-edge cosmetics. This emphasis on innovation resonated with attendees, solidifying Malaysia’s position as a rising force in the global beauty industry.

“MATRADE is thrilled with the success of the Malaysia Pavilion at Cosmoprof Asia 2024,” said MATRADE’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz.

“The participation provided a valuable platform for Malaysian companies to showcase their innovative products and tap into the immense potential of the Asian beauty market. We look forward to building on this success and supporting further growth of the Malaysian beauty industry.”

Hong Kong presents a strategic opportunity for Malaysian beauty brands. As Malaysia’s 11th largest trading partner for perfumery and cosmetics products in 2023, with a trade surplus exceeding RM94 million, the market holds immense potential for further growth.

Hong Kong is the ideal platform for Malaysian brands to test consumer preferences and gain valuable market insights. By participating in Cosmoprof Asia 2024, these companies can leverage Hong Kong’s strategic location as a stepping stone for further expansion into the vast Chinese market and the broader East Asian region.

The Malaysian companies participating under the Malaysia Pavilion achieved impressive results, collectively generating total sales of RM27.33 million during the event. This success demonstrates the strong demand for innovative and high-quality Malaysian beauty products in the international market.

Building upon the success of their inaugural participation at Cosmoprof Asia, MATRADE remains committed to supporting Malaysian beauty brands in their internationalisation journey. MATRADE will continue to facilitate their access to leading trade events and provide targeted market access support.
