Experience resort-living staycation in the middle of JB city
Stepping into M Suites Hotel gave me the impression that the hotel truly values Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity and heritage. What caught my attention was the brightly painted mural art of Malaysians’ traditional clothes, buildings and dishes, close to the ceiling of its upgraded and renovated lobby area.
Situated strategically along the Straits of Johor highway, M Suites Hotel is one of the most accessible hotels for tourists and business travelers. One of the most convenient aspects of staying in the hotel would be its accessibility to two major shopping malls which are the Johor Bahru City Square and Komtar Johor Bahru City Centre (JBCC).
Upon arriving at the hotel, I was given the chance to explore the facilities of the hotel and was pleasantly surprised to see a mini waterpark with two slides linked to the pool. Children will enjoy a splashing good time here especially during a hot day under the two umbrella sprinklers, although I would suggest bringing some insect repellant to ward off mosquitoes since the pool has been set in a natural environment amidst lush and shady trees.
After a swimming session, it was time to try out the hotel’s restaurant. The Myra bistro, an all-day dining restaurant which serves local favourites, Asian, Western and fusion dishes, is vibrantly designed with a bright red interior. My usual practice would be to ask for the hotel’s friendly F&B team for some recommendation and they had decided that the crispy seaweed popiah would fulfill my tea-time indulgence and sure enough, it did! The popiah, filled with thinly-sliced turnip, cucumbers and vegetables, wrapped with seaweed and popiah skin with mayonnaise and crunchy tempura filling was indeed delightful and satisfying to bite into!
Then, it was time for me to explore the variety of Suites which the hotel offers. Priced from RM260 per night for a Studio Suite, M Suites Hotel also offers Junior Suites, 2 Bedroom Suites, 3 Bedroom Suites and Executive Suite, which is the Premier Studio Suite. The most luxurious suite in the hotel would be the Presidential Suite. I was lucky enough to be shown the Presidential Suite because I have never seen a hotel suite with a complete set of gym equipment in it. Designed intricately with class and elegance, the suite has 2 main bedrooms, a dining hall and a meeting room for guests to have discussions and gatherings.
All in all, the staycation in M Suites Hotel made me realise that I don’t have to go far for a mini escapade within JB city. With the hotel’s strategic location, which is about 10 minutes’ drive to the main cultural attractions like the Tiong Hua Chinese Heritage Museum, Sri Raja Mariamman Temple and The Red House JB, I am thankful I managed to have the opportunity to explore JB town even further during this trip!
