KPJ Bandar Dato ‘Onn Specialist Hospital (KPJBDOSH) aims to vaccinate 100 senior citizens a day starting from 21st June, compared to 50 people a day, currently.
The hospital started administering the COVID-19 vaccine to the elderly on 31st May, in line with its selection as a Vaccination Centre (PPV) under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme.
The selection came after obtaining approval from ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd (ProtectHealth), a wholly-owned subsidiary of ProtectHealth Malaysia under the Ministry of Health, Malaysia (MOH).
KPJBDOSH Chief Executive Officer, Noor Haslina Harun said, she was proud that the hospital was selected as one of the PPVs in the state, as well as on track to help the government realising the target of immunising 80% Malaysians in order to achieve herd immunity by the end of this year.
“Currently, we are vaccinating 50 senior citizens a day based on the list of recipients received from the MOH and it is implemented from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.
“However, beginning 21st June, we are expected to increase the vaccination to 100 people a day for the first and second dose recipients in order to achieve the government’s target of ensuring 150,000 people are vaccinated daily,” he said in a statement.
To date (10th June), about 450 senior citizens have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection at the KPJ Bandar Dato ’Onn Specialist Hospital.
Noor said that in order to get vaccinated, the public needs to register on the MySejahtera application and it will soon be coordinated by the MOH.
