The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP)’s Deputy Minister, Dato’ Rosol Wahid has announced the current efforts by the ministry to help reduce the number of unemployment by introducing the Micro-Franchisee Entry Package to encourage entrepreneurship as another alternative to job seeking. Officiating CoolBlog’s latest series of tea beverages ‘SawadeeCool’ in their outlet at Angsana Mall Johor Bahru, Rosol Wahid said that the ministry has currently partnered with the nation’s second largest franchisor in Malaysia, CoolBlog as the first phase of the package execution in which the company would alleviate RM150,000 of the starting capital for their franchisee plan.

“Starting a franchise business involves a lot of preparations like preparing the kiosks and these parts would be covered by our partnering companies like CoolBlog in this entry package,” he said after the officiation ceremony, adding that another ministry would be of help in terms of capital and funding.

“KPDNHEP is in full support for the franchisor to mentor future franchisees by offering below RM1K start-up fees or a 10% – 20% discount to kickstart their businesses,” he further added. The ministry is currently looking for more partnerships with brands that have proven track record for the entry package scheme.

During the enforcement of Movement Control Order (MCO), CoolBlog has reached 60% of their sales despite the restriction by turning to the e-commerce platform for order and delivery. The franchisor has met half of its target to open new outlets, focusing on the suburban areas this year with the latest opened in the East Coast region.

“RM150,000 is our standard package which includes machine, renovation – all in, depending on the size of the venue and location itself. It is considered an affordable capital to start a franchise business,” said Chief Operating Officer of CoolBlog, Priscilla Leaw.
