Johor Zoo to Go Nocturnal

Over RM8 million helped develop the Johor Night Zoo, launching today, 27th March, following Regent of Johor HRH Tunku Ismail's initiative for both citizens' and tourists’ enjoyment

Johor Zoo will open its nocturnal experience, called the ‘Johor Night Zoo’, to the public today, the 27th of March 2026, following the initiation by the Regent of Johor, HRH Tunku Ismail.

Announced by Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi through his official social media pages, the night experience will provide a new opportunity for Johor residents and tourists to enjoy the beauty of the zoo at night, with more than 35 new and exciting species.

To ensure a more comfortable, safe, and appealing environment, various upgrading works involving drainage systems, sewerage, electrical substations, and lighting were carried out with an allocation of RM8.73 million.

“Among the main attractions is a series of feeding shows that take place throughout the night involving nocturnal animals, giving visitors the opportunity to witness the animals’ natural behaviour at their most active time in a more intimate, interactive and informative atmosphere.”

“The state government places serious emphasis on safety and cleanliness with the involvement of zookeepers, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and RELA; regular patrols; and ambulance deployment, in addition to cleanliness management that is carried out on a scheduled basis to ensure the comfort of all visitors,” Onn Hafiz said in the statement.

The Night Zoo will be open every Friday through Sunday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., with the last entry at 10 p.m. The zoo is closed every Tuesday.

Ticket prices are priced at RM10 for adult citizens, RM5 for child citizens (5 years and above) and senior citizens (60 years and above). Meanwhile, foreign tourist’s ticket is priced at RM30. Free entry for children aged 5 years and below and OKU card holders.
